Operate a mini-bus service for the use of our local community, which aims to help local people get out and about. Whether it’s to go shopping, get involved in social activities or enjoy one of the many day trips organised by us, housing scheme managers, or other local organisations. The buses are equipped for people who find it difficult using public transport and are run under a Section 19 permit. All our buses have a tail-lift for wheelchairs and those that have difficulty in walking or using the steps to get on and off the bus.. Shopper Hopper This is a door-to-door regular bus service to local supermarkets for older and disabled residents and those who have difficulty getting around. Customers are collected and returned direct to their own home. The drivers assist with bags on and off the bus. This service currently costs just £3 per person for a return journey. Lunch Hopper Similar to the Shopper Hopper, the Lunch Hopper provides transport to two lunch clubs where meals are provided at a reasonable cost. Roundabout Transport is a registered charity providing 24 hour self-drive, community minibus hire in Watford, Hertfordshire throughout the UK at a very low cost. Minibuses can be rented for any trip, from a few hours to week long excursions. carry up to 16 passengers, plus a driver. The minibuses are fitted with seat belts complying with current legislation, and are fully disabled accessible with passenger lifts, steps and rails (if required)

Communities 1st are a charity that operates across Hertsmere and St Albans districts. We provide accessible, affordable door-to-door transport for people with mobility problems; thereby promoting better access to healthcare, greater community participation and increased social inclusion. Community Car Scheme A scheme for people who are unable to use public transport to get to community facilities or medical appointments. This may be because of mobility problems or other special needs. The Car Scheme operates in across Hertsmere, specifically in Borehamwood, Elstree, Potters Bar, Bushey, Bushey Heath, Well End, Radlett and Shenley. A charge of 60p a mile is made for each journey to cover volunteer expenses. We have volunteer drivers who use their own cars. Folded wheelchairs can be taken in most cars, but passengers must be able to transfer from wheelchair to car. A wheelchair accessible vehicle with driver can also be booked which has space for one wheelchair user and up to three passengers. Carers are welcome. Costs for these vehicles vary. SELF-DRIVE HIRE: The minibuses are available for hire by local community organisations and groups who operate on a not for profit basis in the Bishop’s Stortford/Stort Valley area, they can be hired for regular journeys or day trips and outings. Groups will need to provide their own driver with a D1 entitlement on their driving licence and Section 19 Permit where necessary. The buses seat between 13 and 16 people including driver seat. There is presently both manual and automatic buses that can accommodate wheelchairs and have electric tail lifts. Bishop’s Stortford Community Transport CIO offer competitive rates which are inclusive of insurance, VAT and fuel. Plus there are no membership fees! Community Action Dacorum is a charity that provides a circle of support to the local community. As a council for voluntary service, we believe in bringing people together to achieve more in their communities and improve quality of life. Community Wheels hires minibuses to groups and organisations such as elderly or disabled groups, youth groups or sport clubs, who are Community Action Dacorum members. Community Cars solves transport problems for less able people in Dacorum. Our team of volunteers use their own cars in their free time to drive passengers to their destinations. Door to Store provides older or disabled people who have difficulties in using public transport safe, reliable and accessible transport to a local supermarket.Bus Services. Day Trippers is a membership outings club for older people. Community Wheels provides timetabled bus services throughout Dacorum using a 16 seater minibus.

Royston & District Community Transport offers door-to-door transport for people living in Royston and the surrounding villages of North & East Hertfordshire and South Cambridgeshire who are unable to use conventional public transport and do not have the use of a car. Volunteer drivers provide transport using their own cars and the scheme also operates two wheelchair-accessible minibuses and a four/six seat Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV). Who can use the service? The scheme is aimed at groups or individuals who are unable to use conventional public transport for reasons of age, frailty, impaired mobility or the lack of public transport. Our minibuses and MPV are suitable for wheelchair users who cannot transfer to a car. On the move? We are currently based at Royston Hospital which, although closed to inpatients, is still open for outpatient clinics and community facilities.
