Bookable transport for individuals unable to access public or private transport options.  Collection from the client’s home and transport to their destination.  Sometimes wheelchair accessible.

  • Redbourn Care Group

    Area Covered: Redbourn
    Eligibility Criteria: Must live in the Parish of Redbourn.

    The Redbourn Care Group is a charity which aims to provide friendly help to any resident of the village who may be ill, have experienced  a recent accident or bereavement,  finds their life impaired by loss of mobility, or would simply like to enjoy recreation in the company of others.

  • Markyate and Flamstead Care Group

    Area Covered: Markyate and Flamstead
    Eligibility Criteria: Housebound/Disabled; Health, Group Trips for residents of Markyate and Flamstead

    We provide transport by means of private cars and our own mini bus for the housebound and/or disabled residents of the two villages. We can arrange to transport them to local doctors and dentists. The Mini Bus transport to local supermarkets and on outings and trips further afield. Mobile phone is manned from 9.30am till 1.00pm on weekdays. Volunteers answer the phone and find drivers to meet the clients need.

  • Hertsmere Community Transport

    Area Covered: Hertsmere
    Eligibility Criteria: Live in Hertsmere area and be unable to access public transport. Car scheme covers Borehamwood and Potters Bar residents

    Hertsmere Community Transport  are a charity that operates in Hertsmere. We provide accessible, affordable door-to-door transport for people with mobility problems; thereby promoting better access to healthcare, greater community participation and increased social inclusion. Community Car Scheme A scheme for people who are unable to use public transport to get to community facilities or medical appointments. This may be because of mobility problems or other special needs. The Car Scheme operates in Borehamwood and Potters Bar. A charge of 45 pence a mile is made for each journey to cover volunteer expenses. We have volunteer drivers who use their own cars. Folded wheelchairs can be taken in most cars, but passengers must be able to transfer from wheelchair to car. THREE WORKING DAYS notice is needed. ​Hertsmere Shopper Scheme is a door-to-door service for people with mobility problems who have difficulty using public transport, and want to go to their local supermarket.   • Community Action Dacorum

    Area Covered: Dacorum
    Eligibility Criteria: Live in Dacorum area and be unable to access public transport

    Community Action Dacorum is a charity that provides a circle of support to the local community. As a council for voluntary service, we believe in bringing people together to achieve more in their communities and improve quality of life. Community Wheels hires minibuses to groups and organisations such as elderly or disabled groups, youth groups or sport clubs, who are Community Action Dacorum members. Community Cars solves transport problems for less able people in Dacorum. Our team of volunteers use their own cars in their free time to drive passengers to their destinations. Door to Store provides older or disabled people who have difficulties in using public transport safe, reliable and accessible transport to a local supermarket.Bus Services. Day Trippers is a membership outings club for older people. Community Wheels provides timetabled bus services throughout Dacorum using a 16 seater minibus.

  • Hitchin Helping Hands

    Area Covered: Hitchin
    Eligibility Criteria: Elderly or disabled individuals or groups

    Helping People with Disabilities in North Herts to get out and about in the community Hitchin Helping Hands is a local charity in Hertfordshire run entirely by volunteers. We have a core commitee who provide day to day administration, and a number of volunteers who help with driving and social activities. Hitchin Helping Hands provides transport for the elderly and people with disabilities to meet in the community in a caring manner, allowing them to be part of the commmunity and continue to enjoy a level of independence. HHH can now help disabled and elderly people from the rural areas to get out, often to keep essential appointments. The charity operates from its Hitchin base to cover villages in the North Herts area.

  • Hertfordshire Action on Disability – HAD

    Eligibility Criteria: People with disabilities and their carers

    24 Hour Accessible Transport A fleet of adapted, wheelchair-friendly, fully accessible vehicles transporting disabled people to work, doctor’s appointments, shopping, holidays and other leisure activities 24 hours a day. Our latest addition to the fleet is a low floor vehicle which can be adapted to carry a combination of three wheelchairs plus 6 seated or 9 seated passengers. We believe this is the only 24 hour a day accessible transport service in the country, and we’re mightily proud of it! All vehicles are wheelchair accessible and have HAD livery, floor clamping, inertia reel seatbelts and a low rear ramp. Each vehicle can comfortably transport up to two wheelchair users and five seated passengers including carers and friends. None say anything about disability – we believe strongly in maintaining the dignity of older and disabled people. We also have three self-drive hire vehicles. Our Department Manager Phil Caley, and the team of drivers are friendly and fully trained to NVQ level 2 in passenger transport.   • Dial-a-ride

    Area Covered: Hertfordshire
    Eligibility Criteria: 75+ / Disabled (not outpatients/day care)

    Dial-a-ride is door to door travel service for people over 75 and anyone with a permanent disability. To become a member and book a ride, you can also call us on: 01992 556771 If you live in Broxbourne, call 01992 534269 to make a booking. We’re available Monday to Friday 9:00am – 4:30pm. You can use us to get to places like: local shops visiting friends and relatives clubs your local GP or dentist surgery. It costs £1.90 for the first mile, 45p every mile after. When you travel with us you can bring a friend too, they’ll be charged the same amount.
