Operate a mini-bus service for the use of our local community, which aims to help local people get out and about.
Whether it’s to go shopping, get involved in social activities or enjoy one of the many day trips organised by us, housing scheme managers, or other local organisations.
The buses are equipped for people who find it difficult using public transport and are run under a Section 19 permit.
All our buses have a tail-lift for wheelchairs and those that have difficulty in walking or using the steps to get on and off the bus..
This is a door-to-door regular bus service to local supermarkets for older and disabled residents and those who have difficulty getting around. Customers are collected and returned direct to their own home. The drivers assist with bags on and off the bus. This service currently costs just £3 per person for a return journey.
Similar to the Shopper Hopper, the Lunch Hopper provides transport to two lunch clubs where meals are provided at a reasonable cost.
The Community Buses can be used for the many day trips organised throughout the year. Day trips include trips to the seaside such as Southend and Clacton, to Romford and Walthamstow markets, garden centres, pub lunches, and venues such as Tiptree Jam Factory, the DeHavilland Museum, Woburn Safari Park, Paradise Wildlife Park, to name but a few.
Day trips are organised through our sheltered housing schemes, community groups and charities.
Cost: Fares in respect of the Shopper Hopper are payable on the day to the driver; organisations and groups are invoiced. This service currently costs just £3 per person for a return journey. The Lunch Hopper is charged in conjunction with the cost of a meal
