  • Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council Transport Scheme

    Area Covered: Welwyn / Hatfield Area
    Eligibility Criteria: Members of public with mobility issues, Hire to Community Groups

    Operate a mini-bus service for the use of our local community, which aims to help local people get out and about. Whether it’s to go shopping, get involved in social activities or enjoy one of the many day trips organised by us, housing scheme managers, or other local organisations. The buses are equipped for people who find it difficult using public transport and are run under a Section 19 permit. All our buses have a tail-lift for wheelchairs and those that have difficulty in walking or using the steps to get on and off the bus..   Shopper Hopper This is a door-to-door regular bus service to local supermarkets for older and disabled residents and those who have difficulty getting around. Customers are collected and returned direct to their own home. The drivers assist with bags on and off the bus. This service currently costs just £3 per person for a return journey.     Community bus service on Wednesday’s. The bus collects from 13 different locations within the parish and drops off in the centre of St. Albans, with a return journey too.    

  • Harpenden Hopper

    Community bus service on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursdays. The route has been carefully planned to serve the needs of all residents by stopping close to shops, The Memorial Hospital and the three Doctors’ surgeries. Starting at 09.30 from the north of Harpenden, and finishing at 16.30. 2 minibus – 15 seaters.

  • Colney Heath Parish Council

    Area Covered: Colney Heath to/from Hatfield
    Eligibility Criteria: Anyone can use the service. Bus passes unable to be used as it is a subsidised service paid by the Parish Council.

    Community Bus service provided by St. Albans Disrict Council. Runs once a week on a Thursday from Colney Heath to Hatfield. Seats must be booked in advance.   Please note due to current legislation we cannot fix child seats to the bus seats, as such this service is not available for those wishing to bring very young children.

  • Hertsmere Community Transport

    Eligibility Criteria: Live in Hertsmere area and be unable to access public transport. Car scheme covers Borehamwood and Potters Bar residents

    Hertsmere Community Transport  are a charity that operates in Hertsmere. We provide accessible, affordable door-to-door transport for people with mobility problems; thereby promoting better access to healthcare, greater community participation and increased social inclusion. Community Car Scheme A scheme for people who are unable to use public transport to get to community facilities or medical appointments. This may be because of mobility problems or other special needs. The Car Scheme operates in Borehamwood and Potters Bar. A charge of 45 pence a mile is made for each journey to cover volunteer expenses. We have volunteer drivers who use their own cars. Folded wheelchairs can be taken in most cars, but passengers must be able to transfer from wheelchair to car. THREE WORKING DAYS notice is needed. ​Hertsmere Shopper Scheme is a door-to-door service for people with mobility problems who have difficulty using public transport, and want to go to their local supermarket. People are collected from their homes by an accessible minibus and taken to their local supermarket for about an hours shopping and then taken home. Charges from £4.00 return.   • Community Action Dacorum

    Eligibility Criteria: Live in Dacorum area and be unable to access public transport

    Community Action Dacorum is a charity that provides a circle of support to the local community. As a council for voluntary service, we believe in bringing people together to achieve more in their communities and improve quality of life. Community Wheels hires minibuses to groups and organisations such as elderly or disabled groups, youth groups or sport clubs, who are Community Action Dacorum members. Community Cars solves transport problems for less able people in Dacorum. Our team of volunteers use their own cars in their free time to drive passengers to their destinations. Door to Store provides older or disabled people who have difficulties in using public transport safe, reliable and accessible transport to a local supermarket.Bus Services. Day Trippers is a membership outings club for older people. Community Wheels provides timetabled bus services throughout Dacorum using a 16 seater minibus.

  • Stortford Shuttle

    Stortford Shuttle – The Town Bus for Everyone!   • Sawbobus

    Sawbridgeworth Town Council launched Sawbobus in November 2009 to replace the axed SW1, 2 & 3 services. This vital community service has proved popular with the town’s residents and in 2015 provided over 22,000 passenger journeys. The Town Council set up this service and receives grants from East Herts District Council, some councils in Essex and some commercial sponsors which help fund the service.  Our new bus has been provided under a grant scheme by the Department for Transport and has been sponsored by Hertfordshire County Council.

  • Hadham Hopper

    Area Covered: Much Hadham, Perry Green & Bishops Stortford

    Bishop’s Stortford Town Council manages a fleet of minibuses on behalf of Bishop’s Stortford Minibus Trust providing affordable community transport services. These are available for self-drive hire and also for regular services. Self-drive Hire The minibuses are available for hire by local community organisations and groups in the Stort Valley for regular journeys or day trips and outings. Groups will need to provide their own driver who will need to hold a driving licence with D1 entitlement.  The buses seat between 13 and 16 people including driver eat.   There is presently both manual and automatic buses that can accommodate wheelchairs and have electric tail lifts. Regular Services The Minibus Trust offers a number of regular services around Bishop’s Stortford and the surrounding area. The Stortford Shuttle operates one circular route per hour covering Thorley, Havers, Parsonage, Bishop’s Gate, the Herts and Essex Hospital and the town centre (see link below).  Hop on and Hop off at any point along the route.  The bus provides a service on routes not covered by the commercial bus companies and operates weekdays.  Get around town with a £4.00 all day ticket, or use your bus pass.  Operating hours 09:00 – 14:00 hours.
